The 1927 Flood

The 1927 flood is etched in the minds of Vermonters to this day.  Dozens of lives were lost and over 1000 bridges were destroyed as heavy November rains fell on rain-soaked soil.  Here, we bring together images of this massive flood including some of the earliest aerial photographs of Vermont, taken just days after the flood.  These images were rephotographed in 2004 - in many cases showing dramatic changes to the flood ravaged landscapes.
