Velocipede
In 1865, an early predecessor to the modern bicycle was developed. This contraption, called the velocipede, had pedals attached directly to the slightly enlarged front wheel and a seat mounted on a bar connecting the two wheels. This bicycle was dubbed the "Boneshaker" for the bone rattling rides one received passing over cobblestone streets on the wooden frame and metal tires.
