Beaux-Arts Classicism

Although possessing a number of features similar to the Colonial Revival style, Beaux-Arts Classicism boasts much richer, more sculpted surfaces. This turn-of-the-century style was the style for monumental architecture, from grand hotels to county courthouses. The building in the image below maintains the order, proportion, and symmetry of Classical architecture, but the façade is heavily ornamented, with sculptural columns, intricately detailed window surrounds, textured stone surfaces, and relief patterns.
