Greek Revival

Greek Revival porches and entry porticos were built from roughly the 1830s through the 1860s. They generally only appear on Greek Revival style houses, but it is possible to find one that was later added to a late 18th and early 19th century Federal style. The Greek Revival porch featured large, heavy columns supporting a pediment roof. Often the columns were squared with simple capitals, and often they were rounded with ornamental capitals.

The porch in the image below features simple, squared columns and a partial pediment roof sloping from the brick façade.
