Hipped

The hipped roof was occasionally constructed on Federal style structures, which dated from the late 18^th century to about 1830.

The hipped roof was revived in the 19^th century. Many 1880s and 1890s Queen Anne style structures featured hipped roofs, usually with an irregular form and a tower attached, and a large number of Colonial Revival structures were constructed with hipped roofs during the early 20^th century.
