Richardsonian Romanesque
The heavy stone porches of the Richardsonian Romanesque style were constructed primarily during the 1890s. This porch style is seen on late Queen Anne and Shingle style structures, as well as Richardsonian Romanesque structures (which are not generally residential). These porches are easily characterized by their heavy, round, stone arches. The porches are usually recessed and fully encompassed into the massing of the structure. For that reason, it would be rare to find a porch of this style added onto an earlier structure.
