Makeshift

In the early 1900s, when the first automobiles hit the roads, many farmers set up makeshift gas stations along roadsides. These early stations were simple wood frame buildings outfitted with a pump and some storage space. The makeshift stations are likely to date from the 1900s to 1910s.
