Doremus
In 1889, the Post Office ordered a new mailbox designed by Willard D. Doremus. The box, which came in three different sizes, was not strong and broke easily. A new box design appeared in 1890, and the Doremus box was likely quickly replaced. Note the raised mail hatch on the top, into which patrons drop their letters.
