Bird's Eye Maps of the Victorian Age
During the second half of the 19th century, a number of bird's eye maps were drawn of villages, towns, and cities in Vermont. These highly detailed maps are not only artistically pleasing, but they are also excellent research tools. An historic image can be compared to the hand-drawn buildings on a bird's eye map to determine if they were present or not at the time of the map's publication.
