Meter
Around 1925, the clock-style meter began to replace the visible cylinder. By 1930, clock meter pumps were being manufactured by nearly every company. In the 1930s, the motorized pump successfully replaced hand cranks in all areas with electricity - some remote rural areas were still without electricity at this time. Although the designs varied, the pumps of the 1930s were usually less slender and more squared than those of the 1920s.
As seen in the images below, the clock-style meter was a dominant feature of 1930s gas pumps.
