Boating
Recreational boating surged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Burlington Yacht Club formed in 1884 on Lake Champlain, and yachting, sailing, and rowing soon became popular pastimes. For more information on boating, refer to the "Boats" section of the main page.
Although casual attire was worn for outdoor activities like boating, late 19th and early 20th century boaters were still rather well-dressed.
