Boats
Located on the eastern shores of Lake Champlain, Vermont has a long maritime history. Today, car ferries and sailboats traverse the narrow waterway, but the lake was once an important trade route, connecting Vermont to Canada and down the Hudson River into New York. Boat styles changed with new technology and differed greatly from use to use. Identifying the type of boat in an historic image can help narrow the date.
