GSA Short Course "Using & Developing Historical Image Archives"
In October 2009, we taught a short course at the Portland, Oregon national
meeting of the Geological Society of America. This short course served as one
means of public dissemination for the NSF DTS award (DUE-525046) that supported
the Landscape Change Program from 2005-2010. The course presented a history of
the archive, described the science students have done, detailed the means by
which images are acquired and described, and reviewed the pedagogical materials
created under the program. We used a combination of lecture, question and
answer sessions, and hands-on activities. There were thirty-one registrants. To
